Jerusalem, Jerusalem…
“Now our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.” Psalm 122:2
Today was another amazing whirlwind of history, archeology and a journey of faith steeped in cross cultural immersion. We started with a tour of the Church of thr Garden of Gethsemene where I saw a grove of ancient olive trees. What made it extra neat for me was seeing trees I know my grandmother sawwhen she was here 40 years ago. She painted the scene into a picture I have seen since my childhood.
We spent our second Sunday in Lent at St George’s Anglican/Episcopal Church here. Our own Bp Ed preached. The text was from Luke 13 where Jesus shames Jerusalem as the “city that stones the prophets.” Tough words to have to get through, And Bp Ed was masterful in inviting us into the Lord’s challenge and the Lord’s great mother hen like comfort.
We were able to tour the tunnels under the Temple wall…
Then walked the Via Dolorosa…
Highlight of the day for me was the Church of the Holy Sepulchre…
