My home is the whole state of West Virginia. As the eighth Diocesan Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia, I have a house in Charelston but my home is the greater expanse of the mountains and hollows here in the heart of Appalachia. I was raised in Alexandria, Virginia until age twelve; spent my teenage years in Miami, Florida; completed two theater degreees, one in Florida at FSU and one in Los Angeles at UCLA. I taught college for four years before following my call to the priesthood and attending Virginia Theological Seminary. My wife Melissa and I have launched our three young adult children, Meghan, Nicholas, and Joshua.
I’ve posted pictures on Facebook and Instagram that tell stories about my family, friends and me. You can see those there.
You can read a more in my professional bio about me on the West Virginia diocesean webpage.
